Patient Registration on a *BRIEF* hold

If you’re seeking a consultation: Due to a significant increase in demand for our specialized services, we are currently pausing new patient registrations to ensure that we can maintain the highest standard of care for our existing patients. We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we want to reassure you that this is a temporary measure. If you are a prior patient of Dr. Jun’s and are seeking a post-op, please email us now and we will register you first. ⭐️ If you email us now, you will automatically be placed on a waitlist to receive a registration form once available ⭐️

What insurance do you accept?

What insurance do you accept?

“What insurance do you accept?”

This is a very common (and good) question. It is especially relevant now that it is November as many of you are in open enrollment and faced with choosing your insurance plan. Here is our best answer:

Our practice works with most insurance plans unless your insurance plan specifically excludes transgender care.

Our hope is that as of 12/15/2023, Jun Surgical will be in-network with the following carriers:

  • Blue Shield of California

  • San Francisco Health Plan

We are working with other major carriers to obtain contracts. In the meantime, single-case authorizations may be available to you.

Even if Jun Surgical is out-of-network with your insurance carrier, there are still options that you may pursue to obtain authorization for some coverage. Our office will work with you in obtaining authorizations.

Our practice cannot accept Medicare or straight Medicaid/Medi-cal. We may be able to work with Managed Medi-cal plans in California.

While You Wait…

While You Wait…

Happy Halloween everyone!

We are currently still serving 1️⃣ patients who already had a previous surgery date, starting with those with the fastest-approaching surgery dates.

We understand that many of you are eager to get moving (we are too!). In the meantime, here are a few things that you can complete during this waiting period:

  • Previous consultation notes: If you have previously consulted with Dr. Min Jun (aka groups 1️⃣ and 2️⃣), please contact the Crane Center to request your patient files. In these files, you must request the consultation notes from your consultation with Dr. Jun. Once you’ve obtained this, please email them to info@junsurgical.com with the subject line “Previous consultation notes”.

  • Hair removal: Prior to surgery, permanent hair removal in the area of interest is required.

  • Letters of Support: Insurance companies require 3 letters of support from your healthcare providers (see WPATH for full requirements). We recommend you get started on obtaining these letters sooner rather than later.

Grouping Patients To Serve

Grouping Patients To Serve

Thank you for your emails. It has been my top priority to reach out to my patients.

To make sure I am reaching out to my patients efficiently and fairly, I am:

1️⃣ starting with patients who had a previous surgery date - starting with those with the most fast approaching surgery dates;

2️⃣ then I will contact patients who previously had consultation dates;

3️⃣ and finally, I will contact patients who would like to schedule a future consultation.

Please understand that this process will take some time. I hope that these regular updates and this level of transparency helps address some of your questions or concerns. I appreciate your patience and I look forward to partnering with you.

Insurance is a WIP

Insurance is a WIP

  • I officially have a temporary office in San Francisco!

  • I will need to speak to all who have previously consulted with me. Your follow ups will be free of charge. Prior to scheduling, please reach out to Crane Center and obtain your medical records. Having those notes will make the process more efficient for you.

  • Previous patients will be prioritized initially. New patients will follow. Future posts will address how new patients will be handled. Thank you for your patience.

  • Insurance, insurance, insurance… takes… time… It will take around 6 months +/- a few months to get contracts with the major providers in an effort to help as many of y’all as possible. Please understand that it is a TON of work and I appreciate your patience. I’ll do my best to keep everyone up to date on progress.

  • “How do I get my surgery ASAP?” In other words, “how do I have my surgery while this insurance process plays out?” Each case is unique, which is another reason why the most important step for you will be to schedule an appointment with me.

Hello World!

Hello World!

Hello! Firstly, thank you so much for your ongoing support and patience. When I am no longer an employee of my current practice, I will be able to provide everyone with more significant updates. For that reason, I am looking forward to 10/1/23. I ask for a little more patience until that time. Until then, be well! ✌🏻

Dr. Jun
